Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, an expected GOP presidential candidate, drew the ire of the political right and left recently over his comments on immigration. When it comes to the immigration issue, Republicans are expected to use the tried and true, consultant tested “secure the border” talking point and move on to other issues.
Gov. Walker, like former US Senator, Rick Santorum, has taken things further than just a discussion of illegal immigration. They have dared to discuss the impact of legal immigration on American workers. Like most Republicans, I’m still undecided about the Presidential field.

kelly-monroe-kullbergFebruary 17, 2015 – Evangelicals For Biblical Immigration and Cultural Flourishing –
The following essay is in response to an opinion piece that appeared in The Christian Post earlier this month entitled, White Evangelicals and Immigration Reform.
There are biblical and prudential reasons for opposing “comprehensive immigration reform,” but your otherwise thoughtful article did not acknowledge them.
I concur with the statistical conclusion of Kellstedt and Hoover, that evangelicals, “white” and otherwise, largely oppose the kind of “comprehensive immigration reform” that President Obama is attempting to enforce despite the disapproval of Congress and most Americans.

kellykNovember 5, 2014 – My Take: Why Evangelicals Oppose Immigration Amnesty –
The Bible teaches wise welcome, not blanket amnesty. Biblical teaching would give first consideration to foreigners applying to come to America as blessing, and lawfully (there are four million who’ve applied and are waiting). I believe blanket amnesty of many millions more is unwise. Amnesty is unkind to nearly 20 million Americans who are currently looking but cannot find a job. Wisdom and kindness would bring millions of jobs to America before more competition for scarce jobs. Biblical wisdom would protect Americans from open borders and the risks associated with amnesty: illegal entry into the country by violent Islamists, narco gangs and those who knowingly enter with dangerous diseases like Ebola. Our goal is not hostility, but hospitality.

headshotOctober  24, 2013 – National Review Online: Evangelicals and Immigration –
Now that the government is back up and running, advocates of comprehensive immigration reform are ramping up their efforts, with Evangelical Christians taking center stage. The Evangelical Immigration Table has been particularly active, organizing a “Pray4Reform” campaign that (per the National Immigration Forum) has had more than 400 “prayer events and gatherings” in the last fortnight. And on October 21, the group sent a highly publicized letter to members of Congress praising them for their success thus far in moving toward reform and admonishing them to keep fighting the good fight.

groupOctober 21, 2013 – TIME Mag. –
Though many evangelical leaders have come out in support of immigration reform, not all are on the same page about what that reform looks like. One branch of the evangelical Christian community knows what it wants up next on America’s political agenda: comprehensive immigration reform. Another would prefer what it calls “Biblical immigration.” As Congress turns back to the business of governing ahead of the holidays, the two sides are ramping up their rhetoric–and their lobbying–with dueling interpretations of the gospels’ guidance.

kellykPatheos –
The Rev. Michael Wilker — who hosted 300 evangelical leaders at his Church of the Reformation, very close to the capitol in Washington DC, for an Evangelical Immigration Table Day of Action — published an op ed in the Washington Post where he reiterated these words from the gathering:
“We are announcing the Gospel that welcomes the stranger and we will denounce those that block immigration reform.”

Perhaps we should take notice when anti-Christian billionaire and globalist, George Soros, is the quiet funder of an “Evangelical” campaign to promote a large and confusing piece of legislation in our U.S. Congress. This time it is the “Gang of 8” Schumer-Rubio immigration bill (S. 744). Mr. Soros and allies have funded open border advocacy in Europe, the yield of which, we believe, is in daily news stories of escalating chaos, debt, and violence. Now it’s America’s turn. Sen. Harry Reid wants to begin the voting process on S. 744, immediately.
